Cutie-Bug Piñata
Cutie-Bug Piñata
A lively activity for birthday parties or get-togethers: make it...then break it! The kids will love all the treats!
Prep time: 120 min.
Decoration time: 60 min.
Difficulty: Challenging
What you'll need:
  • An assortment of your favorite Mars candies, including SNICKERS®, MILKY WAY®, TWIX®, 3 MUSKETEERS® Brand Miniatures and M&M'S® Brand Chocolate Candies FUN SIZE®
  • Balloons
  • Flour
  • Newspaper strips
  • Water
  • Bowl
  • Glue
  • String
  • Crepe paper
  • Tape
  • Scissors
What to do:
  1. Blow up a balloon to begin making your piñata; you can later decorate it to be a fruit, flower or caterpillar. (For a caterpillar, use three or four balloons and tape them together.)
  2. In a bowl, combine equal parts flour and water to form a paste.
  3. Dip the newspaper strips in the paste and run them between your fingers to remove the excess paste.
  4. Cover the balloon completely with the strips and allow to dry for two hours.
  5. Pierce the balloon with scissors to create a small hole.
  6. Tie a large knot in your string and feed it through the hole—make sure it is long enough to hang your piñata from.
  7. Pierce the bottom of the piñata and cut out three sides of a square for the "trapdoor".
  8. Fill the piñata with your favorite candy and tape the trapdoor shut securely.
  9. Decorate using crepe paper and glue.
Makes 1 piñata.
