The great thing about showers, whether for bridal or baby, is that they are a ‘pre' celebration for something joyful to come. When hosting or planning a shower, keep in mind that it is a celebration and should be treated as a party. Be playful, keep it simple and most of all, have fun.

Bright Ideas' Baby Shower Tips
  • For a fun idea for place cards that double as favors, fill small Lucite boxes with blue or pink M&M'S® Brand Chocolate printed with the due date of the baby! Attach a small tag with each guest's name.

  • Use primary colors to create a festive baby shower for someone that doesn't know the sex of the baby – use multicolor balloons and bright colored tablecloths and accessories – set the center of the table with a monochromatic flower arrangement and surround the base with glass bowls filled with SKITTLES® for a punch of color and a little snack.

  • Create a picture board with all your guests' baby pictures. Let your guests guess who is who during the party. This is a great icebreaker to acquaint guests with one another.

  • Have guests write small letters to the mother to be with her best advice for pregnancy/motherhood. When the cards are all filled out make a book and include photos from the shower. Send them to the hospital so the mother-to-be can read them before she has a baby.

  • Make customized caramel apple favors. Dip apples in caramel – once dry, dip again in melted DOVE® chocolate and add a variety of extras, such as chopped nuts, coconut or even M&M'S® Brand MINIS® Milk Chocolate Candies. Wrap in cellophane and tie with a ribbon.
Bright Ideas' Bridal Shower Tips
  • Having an open house bridal shower is a great way to change the bridal shower wheel. This works well with 30 guests or more. As guests arrive open presents as soon as they come. This is a great way to keep the party entertaining and prevents the boredom of watching presents being opened one at a time.

  • Create custom dipped strawberries! Dip large strawberries with stems still attached into melted DOVE® chocolate and allow them to dry on parchment paper. Using a pastry bag, pipe the initials of the bride and groom onto the strawberries using melted white chocolate (or tint the color to match the wedding) – it's a very simple personalized touch.

  • Create personalized favors using M&M'S® Brand Chocolate Candies. Create small clear bags filled with the M&M'S® Brand Chocolate Candies colors that reflect each guest's birthstone. Include a card that talks about your guest's name, stone and sign. You can also print your guests name and birth month on the M&M'S® Brand Chocolate Candies at mymms.com.
